Council takes clearway fight to court
breakfast at Pheast48, Armadale
On a recent Saturday morning I had a delicious breakfast at Pheast48 at 48 Wattletree Rd Armadale. My girlfriend and I shared the French toast with bacon and maple syrup and the eggs Benedict, which had a particularly tangy hollandaise sauce. We sat in the individual church pews you can see in the front window in the photo below. The interior is warm and cosy with art on the ceiling as well as the wall. It"s also on the walls of the large rear courtyard.

why should we pay to placate irrational behaviour?
According to this article, Orthodox Jews in Melbourne who fail to use pedestrian crossings lawfully have had their tickets for jaywalking rescinded, and they are demanding to have ratepayers spend more money to condone and placate their irrational behaviour.
Their behaviour is the result of their religious belief that they should not touch anything electrical on holy days, so they choose not to push the button to activate the pedestrian crossing signals. They expect the Glen Eira Council to install an automated system, which does not need to be touched, at intersections at an approximate cost of $2000 per intersection....Read Full Article»

Have you wanted to take out your favourite teddy bear for an outing but never dared to nor had the chance? Well, why not do both at the Ripponlea Teddy Bear's Picnic. Bring your favourite teddy bear(s) for a picnic and enjoy the fun and games on the 24th February, this coming Sunday.
Ripponlea is a large National Heritage listed estate that has a beautiful garden that comes with its own lake. Its about 20 minutes drive away from the city, I think, depending on traffic conditions and where you are....Read Full Article»
BITS OF MELBOURNE THAT SCARE THE CRAP OUT OF ME #1
Driving down - is it Hotham Street - somewhere like that in East Saint Kilda, by the cemetery around 1am. Approaching the traffic lights, heading back to Richmond. I turn to look at the cemetery fence only to be greeted by the luminescent, vengeful spirit of a woman towering over the fence ready to eat my soul.
It's only when I pull over some fifty metres later and finish screaming that I realise that it's an alabaster statue within the cemetery right next to the fence, much taller than every monument around it. ...Read Full Article»
