On a rare visit southside recently I chose a cafe for breakfast based entirely on reviews. It"s a fun thing to do â to see whether a place that has many good reviews delivers a good experience. As possibly the last white person in Melbourne to have breakfast at Las Chicas on Carlisle St Balaclava I was extremely pleased to have a fantastic breakfast and to have confirmed that all the reviews I had read were accurate and helpful.

dinner at Sapore on Fitzroy St, St Kilda
I recently had dinner with Tomatom publisher Ed to discuss how we could use social media to rule the world. We ate at Sapore on Fitzroy St, St Kilda which, as far as I can see, has previously only been reviewed by 1001 dinners 1001 nights. I"m surprised by this, as Sapore has been open for a year or more. Ed chose risotto while I made a brilliant choice â the lamb shank on the specials menu. The shank had been roasted, the meat removed and shredded, recombined in a ball around the bone, wrapped in prosciutto, crumbed and fried. It rested on a bed of polenta with truffle oil and was as decadently delicious as it ... read the complete post

big in Poland
Once my videos of the 2009 Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix were reinstated by Youtube, they gained about 1,000 views each. That""s good considering they were offline when people would have been most interested in seeing them - in the days immediately after the race. But when I checked my account a week after they were reinstated, I found one of them had been viewed over 19,000 times!
By looking at the traffic data I was able to locate a Polish sport website that had run my story on being falsely accused of copyright infringement by Formula 1 Management. F1 is big in Poland because the first Polish driver in F1, BMW"s Robert Kubica, has gained a reputation as a hard racer....Read Full Article»
Formula 1 Management and the Australian Grand Prix Corporation censor spectator videos
The flaccid corporate pricks at the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) and / or Formula 1 Management (FOM) have forced Youtube to remove the two videos of the 2009 Australian Grand Prix I posted yesterday, along with the videos posted by many other fans. This is an example of the email many people will have received:
It"s not Youtube"s fault. The issue is the result of antiquated perceptions about managing content from the billionaire dictator Bernie Ecclestone who controls F1....Read Full Article»

Want to join a club where you get fit, meet new people, and help the environment? Where you can spend time exploring Melbourne and enjoying the scenery? Where you will feel a part of a growing community? But this club is different: there are no membership fees, no forms to sign, no numbers to ring. The club I"m talking about is the growing number of people chosing to cycle to work at least one day a week, and those who already ride to work will know that its hard not to feel a part of something at peak times along the major routes, amongst the two wheel commuters. ...Read Full Article»
