LocalHero is both a publishing platform, cms, and a search engine rolled into one. As such most of the content that appears in LocalHero is from external sites. That content may be indexed without the explicit permission of the owners of the content (similar to Google and other search engines). However our display of external content will always conform with the legal concepts of fair use and fair dealing. Therefore only a relevant summary of the content as it appears on the original site will appear on LocalHero.
How content is sourced
Our crawler sources content from sites by a combination of indexing RSS feeds, brute force web scraping, and the use of our content extraction tool. This process will typically exclude page menus, headers, and footers etc but will index (and store) the actual content (including images) in our index, however that content will only ever be used in accordance with fair use and fair dealing.
